ARTISTS STATEMENT
It has been an incredible journey since I exposed my first frame of film to light. My fascination and love for photography began when I was a child exploring the Yosemite Valley with my trusty little Kodak 110. To this day, the curiosity and love of the medium which formed early on has continued to grow and blossom. I now explore across the globe with my Mamiya RZ67 and Wista 4x5 large format view camera, enraptured by the landscapes unfolding in front of me. With each release of my shutter and each silver-gelatin print that miraculously comes into view under my safelights, I give thanks that this wonderful medium has become such an intimate part of my life. Throughout the years two qualities have become important not only in my life but my work as well. Simplicity and balance...from my perspective should be two of the key elements of our lives. Although life's complexities sometime strain the balance, it is always a great pleasure to negotiate the way...towards the light.
